Welding/Fracture Evaluation

FLExBTM Welding Improves the Fatigue Resistance of Steel Structures

Improves fatigue strength without post-welding treatment.
Realizes greatly improved welding efficiency!!!

Solution Point

Features 01

Expected Problems
・Is grinder treatment after welding tedious and time-consuming?
・Is the high labor cost of grinder treatment a problem?
・Is improvement of welding work efficiency an issue?

Features 02

Technology highlight
・In gusset welding, first, the main plate is fillet-welded to the short side of the gusset, then the main plate is fillet-welded to the long side of the gusset, and both weld beads are extended in the direction of the long side of the gusset.
・Stress concentration in the gusset short side part is reduced by controlling the length and spacing of the extended beads, thereby improving fatigue strength.
・Fatigue strength is improved only by this bead shape, even without grinding or other post-welding treatments.
・This technology is registered in the New Technology Information System (NETIS) of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). (Registration No. CB230007-A)

Features 03

Proposed Solutions (Examples)
・Welds of stiffeners of bridges, buildings, etc.
・Welds of stiffeners of girders, etc.
